Long ago I reviewed a book called “Simon’s Cat: Kitten Chaos” (Daddy Tim editorial comment: it was actually only June 23rd of this year—cats have no sense of time), I thought the author illustrator Simon Tofield was spying on me because his cat was forced to live with a new kitten just like me being forced to live with Bubble…I have gotten used to her—a little…she’s more fun to chase than a mousie because she keeps on moving. But she is a total pork-pie-face and she needs to stop eating my food! Coming October 1st, Simon’s Cat will have a new collection and I can tell that Simon REALLY does have a cat, and I think his cat must help him write his books. (Daddy Tim editorial note: Simon actually has four cats; doesn’t he know he’s outnumbered? He must be mad. You can find more on his website: http://www.simonscat.com/ ) This new book is called “Simon’s Cat vs The World” and it’s a collection of single picture cartoons of Simon and his cat (often there’s no Simon). In each picture, Simon’s cat takes on something or someone. In the “Simon’s Cat vs the vet” picture, Simon is rightfully scratched up since he has just delivered his cat into the hands of a scary old man with a rubber glove and a thermometer! Don’t touch me there! The picture “Simon’s Cat vs Housework” makes me think that Simon’s Cat doesn’t have a nice big bed to hide under when the vacuum comes out…the Cat is clinging to Simon’s face for fear of the vacuum beast. In “Simon’s Cat vs Novelty Hats” I have to say: I feel your pain, Simon’s Cat…I feel your pain. Just check out our Christmas Cards! This is "Simon's Cat vs Boredom." I am inspired! This looks like a fun game to play with Bubble... The “Simon’s Cat vs Grooming” looks JUST like Daddy Tim used to look after grooming my sister Buffy St Meow with the LoveGlove! (Simon is covered with white fur head-to-knee and HE’S coughing out fur). In “Simon’s Cat vs the Kitchen Window” there are two birds at a feeder right outside the window and Simon’s cat and the kitten have their noses pressed up against the glass…The Daddies call that “kitty cat TV” at our house…ours is in the livingroom though our birds never get THAT close. I like the great big color illustrations in this book. If you are a cat you will DEFINITELY laugh it’s so true to life…just what it’s like to live with a Human! You should get this for the Simon’s Cat fan in your family…OR for your cat, he will definitely identify! You can also watch Simon’s Cat on YouTube (Daddy Tim showed me). This video taught me hw to wake Daddy Trent up in the morning: http://www.simonscat.com/ VERY instructive…they hid my baseball bat, though. I give this book four treats…Simon’s cat must have gotten the other one… |
I don’t know WHAT this is, but it hangs out with the mousies. It doesn’t even have a name! I think Simon’s Cat has one, I saw it in a couple of the pictures. It makes strange scritchley sounds when you whack it across the room. It has a little white tag that makes it easy to catch, but it doesn’t roll very well. There’s something on the side that looks like a butterfly, but I don’t trust it…whatever it is…it’s too cozy with the mousies. I think I’ll go lay on it, that’ll keep it out of trouble. |
