SEEKING THE LINK
My first book was a collection of short stories for adults and young adults. I published it in early 2008.
Nearly half of the fourteen (+ one) stories in Seeking the Link appeared elsewhere in print. Several won awards of the local variety. Each is a short study in detail of a few moments in the lives of the ordinary people who inhabit the words. These often atmospheric stories are at turns quirky, moody, nostalgic, or pleasingly silly.
Two of these stories, "Leaving" and "Accidents" appeared in the Dayton Daily News. Two appeared in the online edition of the Dayton Daily News: "Back Roads" and "Working to See the Cup." "Skipping Stones" appeared in The Wooster Review. "Pictures" was published first in Christopher Street and then translated into Dutch and published under the title "foto's" in Uitkomst.

ZOMBIALITY
After she sent me a couple zombie books to review, I told my editor at Publishers Weekly, "No more, please." My editor at Voice of Youth Advocates took up the slack and sent me a few; I asked her to stop. My editor at Kirkus Reviews sent me several before I asked her to stop too. After all, I said to each of them...once you read one zombie book, you've pretty much read them all:
"Oh no, what's happening?"
"Arrgh."
"Hey, aren't you dead?!"
"Arrgh!"
"Eeek! a zombie!!"
"Arrgh! Brains!"
"No! Don't eat my..."
"Arrgh!"
"Arrgh!"
Imagine my surprise when a few weeks later I saw a call for submissions to this collection of LGBT zombie stories...and I got a great idea for a Science Fiction story about a future where reanimated corpses are used as cheap labor in hazardous conditions. And imagine my further sirprise when they bought my story.
This is a collection of short stories for adults...adults who like zombie stories.
