"Cats on your head. Cats in bed. I love cats!" Each kind of cat is pictured in a realistic painting by Anne Mortimer; she's very talented! Usually there are two cats to each page. And there are all types of cats in this book. I think the cat in bed looks like my brother Banjo which is very appropriate since that is where he spends most of his time..."reading" with Daddy Trent or just curled up on his fleece blanket. I chase him around the house to make sure he gets enough exercise--and I jump on his head for variety. Oh, the book...It is really simple, but I like it quite a lot. It was fun to see all the different kitties. Some of them were playing with things I wouldn't think of playing with. One was in a hammock just like the one in our back yard--I tried it once and it wasn't half as fun as he makes it look. I think little humans who are intelligent and sensitive enough to love cats would also love this book. They would probably easily memorize the words if they can't read yet. |
Today's Tip for Cat Children of Human People (CaCHuPs): Sometimes your human will have strangers in to the house. If you are interested, this is a great time to discover new sniffs! Strange humans have been to exotic places far away...farther even than the back fence! Sometimes they smell of strange plants or other cats or even dogs! Be advised though, these strange humans might be the kind who make loud noises and messes...so that can be scary. I don't know why the Daddies have this type of human visit, I much prefer the ones who want to watch me play. But they all smell pretty interesting; give them a sniff!

He even has a real mouse in his house! And he gets to go out and see glowing fireflies for real! This book is fun to read because of the purring rhymes, but even more fun because some of the pages have cut outs that reveal Tippy Toes when you turn the page (or in some cases the half page). I can tell that Tippy is a smart cat because he naps in drawers. My Sissie Bruegel used to do that all the time. The Daddies called her "Sock Goblin" when she did. I tried...but I don't fit so well in the drawers as a little lady cat. Still, Tippy knows the value of a good nap, or as we call them "Read." So he is smart and this Betsy Lewin knows her kitties! Tippy Toes runs from hoses, naps in drawers and unfortunately walks through a blueberry pie (Betsy Lewin says no one knows why he walked through the pie...well, duh! It felt warm on his toes! He didn't know it was gushy inside!) I like the dark line watercolor illustrations. Tippy looks like a cat I would like to play with. I think Betsy Lewin spends a lot of time looking at her kitties. She gets the pictures just right! Daddy Tim says she is also good with cow and duck pictures, so I know why HE likes her so much...sometimes Daddy Trent calls Daddy Tim: Duck. And our house is full of cows...humans are weird. In the story, no one know where Tippy Toes goes at night... No one...until you turn the final half page which is a little human's bed-covering...and find Tippy Toes sleeping with his human! I love it! That's what I do on cold nights. I think little humans would like this quite a lot especially little humans who have kitties to sleep with. I give this four and a half treats. If Tippy lived near by, I would share a treat with him!
