Then Brush and Hush mixed their red and blue and got purple:
Not very successful at getting to green, these two. Finally, they do mix yellow and blue. The kittens get so excited when they get green that they paint everything with all their colors.
Then they are so tired from their experimenting and painting that they go to sleep...and Daddy Tim says they must have been sniffing the paint fumes because they have a totally whacked out dream.
"Sing Ho for the color of Brush
Sing Ho for the color of Hush
Sing Ho for the color of Brush and Hush
Sing Ho for the color of color
Now Hush!"
I think Margaret Wise Brown and Alice and Martin Provensen who did the illustrations were sniffing some paint too. I guess I liked this well enough. I am glad picture books with cats have improved a lot and you can read about real cats and funny, fake cats that aren't...um...well a teensy bit creepy like these two. Daddy Tim said some big words to describe their behaviour, but I think he was making them up. {Daddy Tim Editorial Note: Obsessive-compulsive, Manic-depressive, Schizophrenic, possibly on LSD}
I give this two and a half treats (Daddy Tim would give it three because he is nostalgic for his kittenhood).
It is too darn hot. The mousies aren't moving around very much. New Brown Mousie did make it up to the bedroom, but that was before the heat kicked in. All I want to do is lay in the hall and doze. Bubble stretches out on the floor downstairs...I am keeping an eye on those mousies, but I think hot, humid weather must effect mousies the same way it does kitties. If there's any activity, I will keep you apprised. But now I think I need to go have a lie down... |
