Gorilla is a grey girl kitty who has no tail! Poor thing. She lives with a little human named Cecilia who loves her. Cecelia makes Gorilla a collar painted like an African flag. I don't like collars. Gorilla doesn't seem to mind. Gorilla gets to go walking on a leash...like a dog! I wouldn't like that either.
She takes care of Cecilia when Cecilia is sick. Gorilla boxes with ivy plants and gets in trouble for walking through paint.
Then we came to the poem that showed me why (besides the greyness of Gorilla) Daddy Tim brought ME this book:
BEDTIME
Gorilla has a lovely bed.
Too bad she won't sleep in it.
Instead, she lies beside me
tossing every other minute.
I leave her all the room I can.
It's not enough, it seems.
Gorilla curls so close to me,
I see her in my dreams.
Veeery funny, Daddy Tim.
Oh, and then there's the poem about Gorilla being a fussy eater. Gorilla and I are alike in some ways, I guess.
I like the poems in this book. They don't really tell a story with a beginning middle and end. But you do get to see what Gorilla and Cecilia are like together. The illustrations by Shane Evans are interesting. They are kind of distorted and kid-human-like. I think Daddy Tim could probably draw and paint like that. I know he took classes once...his mommy has some of his pictures on the walls at their house {We went there once, me and Brueghel}
I give this book two and a half treats. It's good and I think little humans who like cats and poetry would like it a lot.
I think we need more toys--er I mean...um. The mousies have been very quiet lately. I think maybe Bubble and I have beat them in to submission. They haven't been moving around much. I have scared all of them out of the Daddies' bedroom. Bubble whacks milk ring, lays on long green bunny and plays with purple egg...but the mousies don't seem to convocate like like they used to...hmmm. Maybe something's brewing. |
