Today's Tip for Cat Children of Human People (CaCHuPs): It's the time of year when the windows are open. Sitting in the windows is a lot of fun. At the SICSA place where I met the daddies, I had a room with windows for walls. I liked sitting out there. I wish I had one of those here. If you sit in the windows you can watch the birds. I talk to them sometimes to try to get them to come in--they never listen. You can see squirrels and bugs and leaves. You can laugh at the funny sounds the humans make when they walk by. But most importantly you can hiss at strange kitties to keep you humans safe. I even got to growl at one once. Make sure they stay away, so you can keep your humans to yourself. There are only so many laps in a house!
Bubble's Book Recommendations and Tips for Cat Children of Human People -- "Goose" by Molly Bang9/25/2014 ...but I sure am glad Daddy Tim read it with me. I think it is my favorite book so far that doesn't star a kitty. It starts on a dark, stormy night when a goose's egg falls out of her nest and rolls away down a hill...and right into a den of woodchucks. I had never heard of a woodchuck, but apparently it is a giant mousie that lives underground. Neat! She can fly! My daddies make me fly all the time when they want me to move to a different place. They pick me up and make whooshing noises. I'm not REALLY flying like the goose in the book. If I wiggle in the air as I fall, the best I can do is land on my feet...which is still pretty nifty--but wouldn't be much help over the ocean. The goose baby flies right back to her family. Then she gives her family a ride in the air! I love this book. It made Daddy Tim's eyes leak a little; he said it usually does when he reads it. I think he likes it even more than I do. He is mad that it didn't win the 1997 Caldecott award. He said the books that did win and get honors aren't as good as this. He says that this is a hybrid picturebook and comic made before such things were cool, and that the pictures tell much of the story...he says a lot of things that don't make sense to me--I just love the book and the pictures, so I will give this book the retroactive Caldecatt for 1997. I think little humans who are adopted like me and the goose will like this too. Daddy Tim and I decided that anyone human, cat, goose or squirrel that needs encouragement should get this book from someone who loves them.
