She sniffs around in some cat tails...and then the butterfly flies into the house and goes behind the fish bowl...and gets huge (Daddy Tim says the butterfly is magnified by the water...I think "gets huge" is more descriptive). Kitten gets scared and runs back to her Mommy.
This is really simple story. I think I liked "Kitten's First Full Moon" better. But your library can never have too many kitten stories in it. I like the pudgy, simplified cats in the pictures. They look like they are vibrating a little. Small humans who like cats would probably like this, but I would give them the Full Moon book first. Daddy Tim says the author doesn't live far from us; maybe she will write and paint a book about me and my Daddies!
Today's Tip for CaCHuPs (Cat Children of Human People): I learned this the hard way: just because the sun is shining outside does NOT mean going out is a good idea. Sunbeams are warm inside, but outside sunbeams sometimes aren't warm enough to heat the whole outside...it really must be a BIG place. So test the sniffs under the door before you beg to go outside on a sunny day. And if they smell like cold...enjoy a good sunbeam inside. If you go out on a cold cold day, your pads will ache forever! And winter grass tastes blucky!
