Ernest wants desperately to fit into this book! He shimmies and shifts and shuffles to get in front ways. He squidges, squodges and squeezes to get in back ways. But he can't get all of himself into even a double page spread. But his little friend, a chipmunk, has an idea...and some scraps of paper and masking tape make for a HUGE surprise ending!
Scottish artist Rayner's illustrations on "graph paper" are absolutely adorable. Ernest and his little friend are two of the cutest characters to enter picture books in a long time {yeah, I used the "c" word, my blog...my words! I like it!}. Great word choices in the simple text make this fun to read and listen to. The illustrations are adorable, big and friendly. Young listeners will want to pet the pages. Just looking at the cover makes me smile. The little person in your life will respond just the same. Expect repeated requests for readings & it won't be long before they can read it themselves.
Pair it with Oldfield's "Making the Moose out of Life" for older audiences.
