It's new (to my library) and relatively new to America; it was published in Great Britain (and likely the author/illustrator's native South Africa) last year.
A good book for humor or wild animal or even anti-bullying story times...
And then perhaps my favorite moment in the book...no it's not when he gives Buffalo a wedgie (though that's funny). Nor when he sticks a silly sign on Zebra's butt...it's when he steals Hyena's lunch monkey.
Yes, I snorted...
A bear arrives by jet...he's no match for Lion.
A moose arrives by spaceship...he's no match for Lion.
Each time Lion has an excuse for losing...Finally they decide the last contest will be a race to the top of the mountain...somehow Rabbit wins and Lion concedes & agrees to stop bullying.
As you can probably guess from the back cover illustration above...when the animals gather (minus Lion) to say goodbye to Rabbit (and his 100 bucks), there isn't just one rabbit. There are 10 full of marshmallows, one very smart one, six hopping rabbits, one very arty one and four cross-country runner rabbits...Lion never did find out & he was nice to everyone from then on!
Quite enjoyable. Funny & with a sneaky message (and a sneaky protagonist). The cartoon illustrations extend the foolishness of the text and story. Well worth you time...you young listeners will like it and it's fun to read.
