Mr Tim actually recommends the whole series of McQuarrie Middle School "Case Files." These are just great books all around. They are funny, mysterious, and the characters are just like the kids in your classes. PLUS you get to learn to do some very neat Star Wars origami. The books LOOK like notebooks of lined paper, taped together. Notebooks written by a bunch of different people with added illustrations. In the first book (Origami Yoda), everyone in sixth grade thinks Dwight is a little weird, but he has this origami yoda puppet on his finger that dispenses really great advice. Is he real? Or is he a fake? Tommy and his friends decide to get together a "case file" of all the stories of Yoda helping kids out with good advice. The book is the result of that. You'll have to read it and the sequels to find out what happened...you'll like them, I promise. You don't have to like Star Wars or Science Fiction or even Origami to like these books. Usually a series gets a bit stale as it goes on, but I like Darth Paper (#2) more than Yoda...and except for the open end, I like Fortune Wookie |
